San Vito Lo Capo and
Valderice

Jutting out at the
northwest tip of Sicily is the rugged coastline of San Vito Lo
Capo. A pretty, unspoilt resort renowned for its long stretch
of glorious white sandy beach against a backdrop of jagged
mountains, it has a bustling harbour filled with fashionable
yachts and many good restaurants and trattorias serving local
specialties, including seafood and couscous.
Much of the small
town is pedestrianised and lined with tempting cafes, bars and
shops. A short drive from San Vito Lo Capo will bring you to
the small town of Valderice which lies at the foot of the
mediaeval hilltop town of Erice. This is an ideal spot for
visiting the Zingaro Nature Reserve which is a conservation
area consisting of 7 Kilometres of stunning white cliff top
walks boasting over 700 varieties of trees and flowers and
home to many rare species of birds. In the reserve there are
also remains of a Stone Age settlements.
