About Selinunte, Menfi & Marsala
This westernmost colony was founded around 650BC and clashes with Segesta and its Carthaginian allies followed by earthquakes later devastated the area. The gigantic size of the resurrected Temples suggests its enormous wealth and prosperity in its heyday. Below the archaeological site is a coastline of unspoilt beautiful golden beaches. Trapani airport is an easy drive away. As well as being a thriving wine producing area Menfi has an attractive coastline with some fine sandy beaches including the popular Porto Palo.
