Having a typical Mediterranean climate, Sicily's temperature rarely falls below a mild 13°C in winter and the average temperature from June to September is 27°C, although it can soar to a scorching 35 - 40°C plus for a few weeks in high summer. However, around the coast the heat is often moderated by the warm sea breezes. Sicily enjoys a daily average of 10 - 11 hours of sunshine during the summer months and is mainly dry.
Early flowering spring is a delightful sight with the explosion of wild flowers and almond trees in full blossom from March and the splendour of seeing Mount Etna capped with snow is a beautiful sight to behold.
